5/1/2023 0 Comments Are subsonic rounds lethal![]() Shooting through a silencer with a barrel that has a 1:16 rate of twist can and does result in baffle strikes. Many have reported sub-MOA groups at 200yds with a 1:9 barrel.Ħ. Ideally it has to be shot through a 1:10 or faster rate of twist barrel to bring out its best accuracy. 22lr rifle barrel is not going to stabilize it well enough to make it as accurate as it can be. This ammunition is NOT quieter than a standard. Its accuracy is near match grade but not at match grade price (stories of putting 5rd groups in the same hole at 25yds and 2" groups at 200yds abound).Ĥ. 22lr and at longer distances harder than a normal. It hits harder (a lot harder) than your normal subsonic. ![]() This ammunition is dirty - leaves a lot of residue in both the chamber and the bore.Ģ. 22lr at 25 and 50yds and I'm kind of leery on the idea of sacrificing my spinners.Īnyway I've done a lot of research on this ammunition and found a few things to be a commonality amongst all that I've read so I'll take it as reliable:ġ. I'd thought of putting my spinner targets out for a side by side comparison but I'd read on other forums (rimfirecentral etc) that this ammo really tears up spinners meant for. I don't know however what to use for testing impact power - this ammo is supposed to hit really hard. I'll take shots at 25, 50, 75, 100 and 200yds with it to test accuracy. I'm planning on shooting it out of a stock Ruger 10/22 and an AR-15 with a CMMG. So there's 500rds of this ammo coming my way and it should be in my hands tomorrow or the day after. squirrel hunting, pest control and mini-palma shooting). If we both approve he'll order more of it for regular use (ie. I'm going to get half that order for my testing and my father will test the other half. My father, after hearing all of this, placed an order for 1000rds of the stuff. ![]() This stuff is supposed to group a lot tighter than that. Remington subsonics produce a 4" group at 200yds with a Savage MKII BTV. I find this to be really good because we've found ourselves that the velocity of more readily available subsonic ammo (like Remington Subsonics) vary as much as 200fps between rounds in the same box. Its also been claimed by other shooters my father knows to be more consistent in muzzle velocity - keeping hi's and lows to within only 50fps of each other. This means better accuracy and consistency. Its also subsonic which means its less likely to wobble after 100 or so yds when it comes back through the sonic barrier. At short range it is a lethal small game killer and at longer distances (out to 200+ yds) its still an effective small game round. My father heard from a friend of his that this stuff was a fantastic long distance.
